FOODZIE IS ALL ABOUT EATING BETTER, changing the way people eat, and tracing the source of where our food comes from. We select producers and products based on a bunch of criteria, which you'll find here.

Who Sells on Foodzie? The Basic Company Profile:

Nina @ BonBonBar
  • Butchers, bakers, but not candlestick makers. While you can package up a gift basket, we're here to help small food producers and farmers market their special creations.
  • You make people food. We love pets, but for now we're feeding the foodies.
  • It's a small business that started with passion. The owner(s) directly produce the food or manage production hands-on.
  • Limited distribution in great specialty and natural stores, nationwide here and there at the broadest.
  • Personal touch. It's your creation or recipe, not solely a re-packaging.
  • Yummy factor. You have great reviews or are approved by our tasting panel.
  • It's a "Business." You need to be licensed by your state/local gov, adhere to health regulations, and have $1 million in insurance.

"Clean Ingredients" Guidelines

What you'll find here are guidelines similar to those followed by popular natural foods stores.

  • No high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) unless there is absolutely no substitute to make this type of food and HFCS comprises <1% of ingredients (eg 1 T of Karo per batch). You'll need to include a statement explaining why you use HFCS on your product pages.
  • Natural ingredients with no artificial colors or flavors (natural colors are welcome!). Minimal coloring for decoration may be accepted if no substitute exists.
  • No transfats
  • No genetically modified (GMO) products
  • No nitrates
  • No antibiotics (in meat products)

Special Extra Touches We May Look For

  • Local ingredients OR ingredients source known (especially for sauces and spices)?
  • Very unique in the category?
  • How is it made (artisan vs copacked)?
  • Addresses a dietary need? (raw, vegan, gluten free etc)
  • Packaging appeal?
  • Fair and sustainably produced?

Packaging

eco friendly packaging

While we don't have specific packaging requirements, you need to make sure you can pack and ship to keep the product in perfect shape.

Our customers love eco-friendly packaging, whether recycled, recyclable, or minimalist. That all adds additional value and selling points to your product.
