In the United States chestnuts are a rare Fall delight. We grew up eating them roasted in a cast iron pan. It’s hard to believe that years ago chestnuts dotted the country until a fungus killed up to three billion American Chestnut trees.

So it is very excited to bring you the fresh 2009 crop of chestnuts from a small family farm located near Davis, California as well as their simply delicious Chestnut Jam. Winters Chestnuts is a 45 acre gathers the chestnuts from the ground as they fall.

Come October, chestnut imports spread across the US, making it harder for small local farmers to sell their great nuts.
