Start laying out your finest gowns and tuxes, or at least a nice, clean apron. Entries for the second annual Good Food Awards are being accepted as of today, July 6, 2011.

The Good Food Awards strives to showcase top-of-form independent food producers who support “healthy regional food communities, promoting craftsmanship, using sustainably-grown and -raised ingredients, and creating economic opportunity for those in the production chain.” At a ceremony in San Francisco’s Ferry Building earlier this year, they bestowed awards to 71 winners from across the country in eight categories.

We’re no strangers to purveyors of delicious, responsibly produced food here at Foodzie. Among the 2011 winners was our own beloved Happy Girl Farms’ Organic Apricot Jam, and another winner, Sour Puss Pickles’ Peppered Okra, has since come on board.

Who will bring home the gold in 2012? Make sure your favorite local, artisanal purveyor of gourmet goodies gets their wares in for consideration!
